my most favorite quote of the day on mmo-champion:

Quote from: trainwreck
If they do incorporate Worgen and Goblins as playable races it will be the last straw.  I've let my children play this (somewhat evil) game in my Christian household for long enough.  These changes will bring a whole new level of evil and Satanism that I can't stand by and let my kids experience.  I will be cancelling.

They nerfed my milkshake, it only brings 30% of the boys to the yard and has diminishing returns.

Whoa tesk, those vestigial tails are neat. During my grad school research some of the drugs I was researching were known to cause this as a birth defect. All vertebrates have a tail at a certain stage in embryonic development and usually an enzyme called Calcineurin gets activated and causes the cells at the base of the tail to commit suicide (apoptosis) and the tail falls off/is re absorbed by the embryo. If you inhibit that enzyme at the right stage in development then the tail stays. It's basically an extension of your tailbone.

Cool though, I had never seen the human ones.

Yep.  Humans still have the genes to make tails as a part of our vertebrate heritage.  But in our species (and in apes, such as Chimps), those genes are normally suppressed so tail development ceases in early embryo-hood.....and the cells die and are re-absorbed as Yuri says.  But now and again, something (a toxin or even sometimes a spontaneous mutation) causes the suppression gene to switch off and lo and behold...a person with a small tail.  In the US, most people get surgery to correct things like that, which is probably why the videos are of people in China and former Soviet Republics.

I've seen really wild pictures of modern dolphins and whales with small but real hind limbs too.  I assume something similar is happening with them, as all dolphins and whales go through a "limb bud" phase as early embryos.

That's why I love biology.

The problem is Azeroth doesn't have the resources to keep up with soul inflation. The player population increased from 11 million to 11.5 million but during the same time the number of souls increased by 20%. I'm not supposed to tell you this, but it's a system on the brink of collapse.  Faal

Haha, so worgen and goblins are satanic and undead and warlocks are not?

I want a murloc!  If that is the last straw that sends me to Hell, then the world is even stranger than these kinds of folks make it out to be.
